(Un)Mute Yourself, Day 22

II Samuel 7:2 |The king said to the prophet Nathan, “See now, I am sheltering in place, but the ark of God stays in a tent.”

The term “sheltering in place” originally applied to active shooter situations. To shelter in place is to stay in your building instead of escaping into the woods. It’s safer, the thinking goes, to stay put.

2020, of course, is a year of this –– an active shooter is at large, not just for a few days, but for months on end.

That’s a lot, beloved.

It’s probably more than we even realize.

Take care in this time of sheltering, reader. May your place, wherever you can find it, be an oasis of peace in the midst of tension.
